Lucas and Parker are two fast-growing cities in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. All of the amenities and advantages of big city living are nearby with none of the hassles, as Parker and Lucas residents enjoy a quiet, semi-rural and upscale lifestyle. Real estate options consist of single-family homes and lots for custom building. Both cities are located in southern Collin County. Lucas is about 35 miles northeast of downtown Dallas and eight miles from Plano. Parker is two miles from Plano and just south of Lucas. Lucas is situated on the western shore of Lake Lavon, where fishing and boating are year-round events. There are several parks in Lucas, including Lucas Community Park with athletic fields and a pavilion. Bratonia Park, run by Collin County, provides a place for radio-controlled airplane pilots to fly their scale models. Parker, named one of the top suburban cities in the Metroplex, is the home of the internationally known Southfork Ranch where the television series “Dallas” was filmed. Tours take visitors around the ranch where special events can be held in the varied facilities. Six Independent School Districts (ISDs) provide K-12 education for children in Lucas and Parker: Lovejoy, Allen, McKinney, Plano, Princeton and Wylie. The University of Dallas, University of Texas, Texas Christian and Texas Women’s University are also located nearby, along with a host of community colleges, private colleges and technical schools. Adjacent cities provide recreation centers, swimming pools, parks and sports leagues for Lucas and Parker residents.
